Things to consider before buying a sofa
Sofa buyers guide
There are many different things to consider when buying a new sofa but here are some questions to help you out.
Will you be designing the room around your sofa or are you hoping to fit it into the existing decor and style?
Think about the style and colour choice of your new sofa. If you’re looking for something as a statement piece go for a bright colour or something with a pattern. Otherwise, if you’re not sure a classic colour like grey is timeless and would fit into most rooms.
What use will the sofa get?
If you have any pets or children, your sofa needs to be able to withstand them climbing or dropping food on the sofa. Make sure the fabric you choose is durable and able to fit into your lifestyle. For a more decorative piece, you may want to choose a less durable material and frame.
What’s more important; comfort or style?
If you are looking for a decorative piece the comfort of the sofa may be less important. However, if comfort is important to you, you may want to think about what kind of back support it has or how firm you want the cushions to be. Also, think about any allergies you may have and how easy it is to clean.
What size sofa would you like?
Will the sofa fit in the allocated space? Think about any other objects you may want surrounding the sofa like floor lights or tables. Also, think about how you will get the sofa into the room you’d like it to be in. Will it fit through the door?
