Tips on buying a new kitchen
Kitchens buyers guide
For many, the kitchen is the heart of the home; it’s where we prepare meals, do the laundry and, in some cases, eat. So it’s no surprise that buying a new kitchen is a big decision. But with so many factors to consider, the process can seem daunting. That’s why we’ve put together this handy guide. Here you will find our top tips to help you plan your dream kitchen.
Our top 5 tips for buying a new kitchen
1. Do your research
Choosing the right design can be difficult as there are so many options to choose from. So where do you start? Here are some tips to help you with your design ideas:- Collate your ideas together in a scrapbook or online. Pinterest is a great start for inspiration.
- Collect samples of your favourite finishes and colours.
- Take photos of other kitchen designs you admire and keep them as a reference.
- Browse home magazines and see if there is anything you like the look of.And don’t forget to download our Masterclass kitchen brochure here or visit our showroom for more inspiration and ideas.
2. Set your budget
The cost of a new kitchen can vary significantly, so make sure you set your budget from the outset. Our helpful kitchen designers can help you find ways to cut costs and keep within budget.
Be mindful that if you have a restricted budget, you’ll need to be realistic about what materials you would like to use. A high-end granite worktop, for example, could blow a modest budget very quickly.
We design kitchens within any budget, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions. We also offer finance options through Omniport Capital.– please contact our kitchen designers for more information.
3. Assess your needs
A kitchen needs to be functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. Think about what you need in your new kitchen and what is most important to you in the space you have. What appliances can you not live without? How much worktop space do you need? Are there access requirements?
You’ll also need to plan your storage. How much space do you need for pots, pans and bakeware? Try to think about your kitchen from every angle and write down what’s important to you.
4. Consider your current kitchen
Make a list of what you like and dislike about your current kitchen. Are you happy with the appliances in your kitchen? Are your cupboards at the right height and position? Would you like to change the layout?
5. Think about the design and style of your new kitchen
With such a wide range of kitchen cabinet styles and colours available, you’ll need to think carefully about the look you want to achieve. Would you like a contemporary kitchen or something more traditional? Do you prefer high-gloss cabinetry or a painted finish? It’s also worth considering the wider interior of your home. Do the other rooms follow a similar style of colour scheme?
Once you have a good understanding of your preferred style, you can then begin to narrow down your options. A shaker-style kitchen, for example, is ideal if you want to create a timeless country feel, while a handless kitchen is renowned for its ultra-minimal, modern feel. Rest assured, our kitchen design team will help you find the perfect design to suit your style and budget.
